WHERE CLIQUES,
OLD AND NEW,
COME TOGETHER IN HARMONY

With Knowledge Comes Tolerance

On this page we will attempt to keep you in the loop on everything happening in the skateboarding world.

In the 1940s kids starting attaching roller skate wheels to wood from crates.  But the first manufactured skateboards were made in the early 1950s by a roller skate factory in Chicago and shipped to California.  The owner of a surf shop sold them to surfers for something to do when the waves were down.  The surfers would usually skate barefoot and would maneuver the skateboards like they would surfboards.  In fact, skating was called "sidewalk surfing".  By the 1960s, surf shops in Cali were making and selling their own skateboards.

First skateboard movie: Surf's Up (1964)
First Skate magazine: The Quarterly Skateboarder (1964)
First Skate Competition: National Skateboarding Championships (Anaheim, California 1965)
