The Hells Angels Once Sued the Walt Disney Company

Yes, that Disney — Mickey Mouse, magic castles, and family-friendly fare. In 2007, the Hells Angels Motorcycle Corporation (yep, they’re trademarked) filed a lawsuit against Disney for its planned film "Wild Hogs," a middle-aged biker comedy starring John Travolta and Tim Allen. The Angels claimed the movie used their name and logos without permission, and that portraying a fictional outlaw biker gang as bumbling buffoons infringed on their carefully curated brand image.

Because, apparently, being associated with suburban dad jokes is way more offensive than the decades of FBI files.

The lawsuit was eventually dropped, but it proved one thing: even the most notorious outlaw motorcycle club in the world won’t let anyone mess with their intellectual property. Crime may not pay, but trademark enforcement sure does.
