In a plot twist no one saw coming (except literally everyone), Naruto has claimed the title of Most Googled Anime of All Time. That’s right—our favorite orange jumpsuit ninja outran Dragon Ball, One Piece, and even Demon Slayer in a 20-year-long search history showdown. According to Google’s "Most Searched Playground," Naruto has basically been shadow cloning its way through everyone's search bars since 2004.
With 16.2% of all anime-related searches globally, Naruto dominates like it's Hokage of the Internet. Meanwhile, Pokémon, the franchise that practically prints money, is trailing at 8.8%—probably because kids today can’t spell "Charizard" without autocorrect.
And let's not forget One Piece, which is currently 1,000+ episodes deep and still can’t catch Naruto on a Google chart. Luffy might want to stretch those search stats a bit harder.
Of course, in Japan, trendier picks like Mashle: Magic and Muscles and Dandadan are getting all the attention. But globally? Naruto is the king, proving once again that angst, headbands, and endless flashbacks are apparently what the people want.
So here we are in 2025, still Googling Naruto like we didn’t all cry over Jiraiya back in 2008. Some bonds really are eternal.
