After 600 Hours in Cyberpunk 2077, One Player Learns the Hard Way:
Night City Doesn’t Do Happy Endings

After pouring over 600 hours into Cyberpunk 2077, one dedicated player decided to do something different—not another chaotic shootout or neon chase, but a small act of kindness. In a city defined by corruption and cruelty, it was a rare moment of empathy. Spoiler-free: it didn’t end well.

In Phantom Liberty, the 2023 expansion that expanded the game’s endings, the player—known as Broken Player—had just completed a mission in which V earns a medal from the NUSA (New United States of America). It’s a prized item, valuable both emotionally and financially.

Instead of keeping or selling it, Broken Player chose to give it away—to a homeless NPC. The gesture was touching… until the man stepped into the street and was immediately struck by a speeding car. No cutscene. No slow motion. Just a brutal, ordinary accident.

Whether a glitch or a deliberate bit of dark irony, the message was unmistakable: in Night City, even kindness can get crushed.
