Like a lot of cliques, Emo started as a style of rock music and morphed into a full-fledged culture. The emotion that is portrayed and emoted by this style of punk-rock music has spoken for and to a lot of people. Emo music has complex arrangements and lyrics that deal with emotional subjects, thus "EMO".
First we had punk, then hard-core punk, then came the loosely catagorized genre of post-hardcore punk called Emo. Much like Gangster Rap, Emo punk vocalizes the thoughts and feelings of many of our youths. Look around and try to understand their story.
