INDUSTRIAL
With Knowledge Comes Tolerance

This clique, as most, gets it's name from the music that encompasses it.  Industrial music started in England in the 1970s.  Throughout the 1980s other bands took the concept of INDUSTRIAL and added it to their own sounds - POST-INDUSTRIAL music.
So what is the ideology of INDUSTRIAL?   INDUSTRIAL music is for the new generation.  It must contain elements that push the current envelope:
1. Ignore the rules of musical form and make your own sound.
2. Use the latest technology to make your own sound - the use of Noise and/or Sampling are a must.
3. The lyrics must be thought provoking and make you question the world around you - especially what those in power are doing. The original bands utilized the sounds of white noise, synthesizers, music concrète, sequencers, etc... to express their anger toward their government and how the future was progressing.

Please go the "Industrial Music Defined" page, for a complete explanation of the music.

Members of this clique are called Industrialists.  This clique is also demonstrated through fashion, mail art, performance art, and installation art.

Do not confuse INDUSTRIAL with Cyber Goth or Cyber Punk or Rivetheads.  Also do not confuse INDUSTRIAL with EBM, Trance or Electronica.

Disclaimer: We, as humans, like to define things. On these pages, definitions may vary from region to region, but Hella Cliques, through intense research, has tried to bring you the rawest history of each clique. DON'T BE A POSER!
